
As always, the sales at the council's annual Firework’s Booth generates funds for the scholarship program of parish schools. Located at St. Ignatius Parish our booth operated from June 28th to July 5th, and netted some $4,500.
The installation of council officers took place following the five o'clock Mass St. John the Evangelist Parish, which was celebrated by the pastor and our council chaplain Fr. Tom Bland. District Deputy Frank Donagher officiated the ceremony.
Some 25 hungry folks attended our council's annual family activity at Leatherby's Ice Cream Parlor. Following up on this festive occasion with the Leatherby family, Brother Milt Damore presenting a chalice to Father Jeremy Leatherby (also a member of our Council) for his use during his priestly duties
SEPTEMBER:
As the council's liaison at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Brother Herb Holeman helped with the reception for Fr. Ranier Siva, who is the new Parochial Vicar and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Also attending was Brother Ron Pacheco, Deputy Grand Knight of Council 3368 of St. Joseph's Parish which was Fr. Siva's previous parish assignment.
OCTOBER:
Some two-hundred persons attended the council's annual Cioppino Feast in in the Tralee Center at St. John the Evangelist Parish. Organized by Brother Gene Gobbo and Robin Rositani, the event raised $1100 to pay down the construction debt on the Tralee Center and $2000 for the Council treasury to help offset expenses and other donations for this Columbian Year.
Brothers Milt Damore and Jose Salazar coordinated the Council's 2007 Keep Christ in Christmas Seals program. The campaign raised over $500 for the council's Seminarian program. Milt, Jose and I thank all who contributed and to all that used the seals reminding everyone the Christ is the focus of Christmas.
The seventh annual Religious Appreciation Dinner was also a success and much appreciated by the religious of our parishes who selflessly serve our community.
JULY: Philip Bruce Memorial Scholarship Fireworks Sales - Fundraiser 2007
From these proceeds, the council provides ten $750 scholarships. Each of the five parish schools receives two of these scholarships, one to a boy and a girl graduating to a local Catholic high school of their choice.
AUGUST WAS FAMILY MONTH
This year's MR Drive involved many council members. In addition to the three Raley/Bel Air supermarkets in the Arden-Carmichael area, the new Save Mart supermarket was added. Council brothers directed by Br. Ponce Marquez and with the help of student participation from one local high school and parish grade schools, and volunteers from Kohl's Department Store reaped over $7,00 for the Camp ReCreation Endowment Fund.
The mission of Camp ReCreation, a diocese sponsored activity, is to provide a residential summer camp program which offers participants with developmental disabilities opportunities for fun, social interaction, skill development, and spiritual growth.
NOVEMBER:
Organized by Ken and Glenda Macdonald, seventeen widows of deceased council members attended the council's annual Memorial Mass in the chapel of St John the Evangalist Parish and the following luncheon. Brother Roy Lasich, the event's chef, served Pork Loin and the trimmings with the eighth graders of St John the Evangalist School serving.
Christ the King Sunday at St. John the Evangalist Parish, brought out the color corps, including council brothers Michael Langer and Herb Holeman, as well as other brothers wearing their council shirts who attended the Mass celebrated by another council brother, Fr. Aldo, who led the procession with the Blessed Sacrament and said benediction afterward. It was a beautiful program for which I am proud of our participation. Many parishioners complemented the council' participation after mass.
DECEMBER:

JANUARY: Our council held pancake breakfast school fund raisers at two parishes -- 568 attended at Our Lady of Assumption and 200 at St John the Evangelist. At the St. Ignatius School gym, the annual Youth from seven schools also competed in the council's Basketball Free Throw Contest.
Along with many busloads and private cars from Sacramento, this year council members joined over 25,000 abortion opponents who marched peacefully along the Embarcadero on San Francisco's waterfront and again joined in the Forty Days For Life event in Sacramento.

FEBRUARY: Another impressive Exemplification program was conducted by our Council using the facilities of St. John the Evangelist with some 60 candidates for the 2nd and 3rd degrees.
