The Arden-Carmichael Council 4970, Knights of Columbus is a Catholic Family Fraternal Service Organization, which helps families grow together in love while assisting the Church and the communities in the Arden Carmichael areas of Sacramento. Members of the council are aggressively involved in activities of our four main parishes in various ministries including Eucharistic Ministers, Ministers of Hospitality, Lecturers, Pastoral Council members and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Our Council meets twice monthly at the parish of Our Lady of Assumption at 7:30 pm. The Council Business Meeting is conducted on the second Tuesday of the month, and the Planning Meeting is conducted on the fourth Tuesday of the month. All card carrying Brother Knights are welcome to attend.

In memory of Past Grand Knight Eldon Hancock, a Knight's, Knight

Brother Eldon Hancock passed away from cancer, September 13, 2011 at home with his wife, Lady Knight Joanne at his side. Eldon was born September 18, 1937, joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and retired in 1977. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1971 and was involved in many Council programs prior to becoming our Council's Grand Knight for the 2007-2008 Columbian Year, then as a Trustee for three years, and as our Membership Director. He served the Order as District Deputy, Faithful Navigator and on various State committees. Of all the positions he held, he's best remembered for his works of mercy as Wheelchair Coordinator for Northern California. With fond memory, he vividly recalled traveling to Tijuana, Mexico, helping deliver some 200 wheelchairs to crippled children and adults. High on his list of accomplishments was serving the State as a District Deputy. In visiting the councils under his tutelage, he considered his own Arden-Carmichael one of the best.

Eldon never said no. He was the Store Captain for the Intellectual Disability Drive, served many hot days in our Fireworks Booth, helped with numerous pancake breakfasts and almost every other council functions. He felt that none of this was possible without the loving assistance of his family, especially his wife, Joanne. He represented the true knight, a family man dedicated to God and his family, youth and community.
