Annual ID Drive is Underway

Joe Romanazzi, PGK and ID Drive Chairman

Our Council’s annual ID Drive for 2026 is underway. Each year our Council hands out thousands of free Tootsie Rolls in an effort to raise money for Camp ReCreation, a camp sanctioned by the Sacramento Diocese for intellectually disabled (ID) teens and adults. This is part of our LIFE focus in the Faith in Action commitment.

Our public activities this year will be conducted at the three parishes our Council serves — St. Ignatius of Loyola, Our Lady of the Assumption, and St. John the Evangelist.

Please volunteer your help when the time comes so that we can make this important Council project another success in 2026.

Last year, monetary donations from our Council 4970 Knights and Lady Knights, along with the results of our three Parish ID Drives amounted to $25,431 in donations, a record for any Council in California.  We can do it again this year with everyone’s help.

Please join me in praying that Our Lord and our founder, Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney, continue to guide our efforts in serving these special brothers and sisters. We are all made in God’s image and we can’t neglect those we meet on the pathways of our earthly journey. The folks with intellectual disabilities only desire to participate fully in what life has to offer, just like the rest of us.

Council 4970 is standing tall to make this desire a reality again next summer.
