Fraternal Brother Anthony “Tony” Carvelli, 93, passed away on July 1, 2026. Brother Tony had been a member of the Knights of Columbus since August 11, 2014. He was an active participant in activities sponsored by the Knights. Brother Tony was a devout Catholic, an active parishioner at his parish, St. John the Evangelist in Carmichael, and served an exemplary career in the United States Air Force, attaining the high rank of Chief Master Sergeant.
A Rosary for Brother Tony was held in the chapel at Calvary Cemetery the evening of July 9, 2026, led by Council 4970 Brother Knight, Deacon Jack Wilson. Tony’s funeral Mass was celebrated on July 10, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Church. Both services were attended by Knights and Lady Knights, family members, friends, and fellow parishioners. Retired Archbishop Fr. Michael Jackels celebrated Brother Tony’s funeral Mass.
Past Grand Knights Gene Gobbo and Joe Romanazzi presented Tony’s family with a Resolution of Condolence and a pair of Rosary beads blessed by our Supreme Chaplain, Archbishop William E. Lori.
The Honors ceremony and committal for Brother Tony was at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA on July 15, 2026.
So long for now Brother Tony, until the day we all meet again in our Heavenly home. May the angels lead you to Paradise and may your soul and the souls of all our deceased Council 4970 Brother Knights and Lady Knights rest in eternal peace. Amen.
Special Note: A Mass requested by our Council for the repose of Brother Tony’s soul will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church in Carmichael on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 8:30 A.M.
