The Arden-Carmichael Council 4970, Knights of Columbus is a Catholic Family
Fraternal Service Organization, which helps families grow together in love
while assisting the Church and the communities in the Arden Carmichael
areas of Sacramento.

Knights of Columbus Council 4970 representing Catholic men in the Arden-Carmichael area primarily from Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Presentation Parish, St. Ignatius Parish, and St. John the Evangelist Parish. We have over 200 members and their families and meeting twice a month here at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish facilities.
Some Recent Events:
- After our cooking the pancake breakfast in December in support of the parish school’s Christmas Program where we served over 600 parishioners, we followed it up with another successful pancake breakfast in January at St. Johns where we served over 300 parishioners raising $500 for the ministry program.
- In January we participated in the 5th Annual Walk for Life West Coast. Our Council members were part of the 1500 participants from Sacramento that joined the 30,000 marchers in San Francisco in support of pro-life.
- Again in January we hosted the area Free Throw contest for youths 10 to 14 years of age. One student from OLA school, Jasmine Florentino, won her age group and moved up to compete at the Diocese level competition.
- Finally in January we honored Fr. Ted Wroblicky of Holy Wisdom parish meeting at Christ the Knight Retreat Center on his 10th Anniversary of his Ordination.
- In February we hosted the area Religious Appreciation Dinner at St. Ignatius Parish Center where 15 priests, deacons and sisters joined with about 100 Knights to honor their support of the Catholic community in the Carmichael area.
- Also in February on the second Friday of Lent we led the Stations of the Cross at St. John parish. We also participated in the Soup and Salad which followed the Stations.
- Later in February we hosted the Diocese 3rd Degree Exemplification at St. John Parish where over 75 Knights in the Sacramento area were fully invested with their Knighthood degree.
- In March and April we hosted a successful membership drive at Presentation Parish where Father Andrew is hoping to start his own council. This is in accordance with Bishop Soto’s desire to have a council in each of the diocese parishes.
- Members of the council are aggressively involved in activities of our four main parishes in various ministries including Eucharistic Ministers, Ministers of Hospitality, Lecturers, Pastoral Council members and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In regard to the St. Vincent de Paul Society we work closely with the Our Lady of the Assumption parish branch, particularly in furnishing food for its clients.
Recurring Events:
- We are preparing for our Altar Server Awards for altar servers from our four parishes. We also will be awarding two 8th grade students from each of our parishes with $750 scholarships to a Catholic High School.
- We are also preparing for one of our major fund raisers which support our scholarship program. This is our fireworks booth located at St. Ignatius Parish.
- And our August Family month we have our Ice Cream Social at Leatherbys and attend a River Cats game.
Our Council meets twice monthly at the parish of Our Lady of Assumption at 7:30 pm. The Council Business Meeting is conducted on the second Tuesday of the month, and
the Planning Meeting is conducted on the fourth Tuesday of the month. All card carrying Brother Knights are welcome to attend.
